Axl, a beloved companion, family member and loyal best friend, passed peacefully at home on November 26, 2025, at just five years old. From the moment he first entered the Hill family’s life as a young pup, it was clear he carried a special purpose. A purpose he fulfilled beautifully by becoming his Dog Dad’s steadfast best buddy.
Though his early time with the family was brief, life brought him back nearly a year later, and the bond between him and his Dad instantly fell into place. Axl became a constant source of comfort, grounding, and unconditional love, especially during moments when life felt overwhelming. Their connection was deep, undeniable, and truly meant to be.
In late 2024, Axl was diagnosed with a brain tumor and given only a few months to live. But with love, care, and determination, he blessed his family with eleven unforgettable additional months. Months filled with joy, laughter, snuggles, and memories that will forever remain in their hearts.
Axl passed peacefully in his favorite spot at home, on the big bed in the camper surrounded by his parents whose lives he changed forever. Free from pain and illness, he crossed the rainbow bridge at 3:33 p.m., held in the deepest love.
He is remembered for his joyful spirit, his “hippo body” bed-flops, his loyalty, and the extraordinary bond he shared with his Dad, Nic. To say he was loved is an understatement and to say he will be missed doesn’t begin to cover the ache of losing him.
Axl’s purpose was clear, and he fulfilled it with devotion and a gentle heart. His legacy is love and he will forever remain a part of his family’s story.
