In Loving Memory of Kolt “45”

Kolt, our beloved “45,” crossed the Rainbow Bridge on July 12, 2026, at 12 years old, leaving behind a home that will never be quite the same.

Twelve years ago, we brought home our little $5 Facebook puppy. Looking back now, it’s impossible not to laugh. He was worth so much more than five dollars.

Kolt was wonderfully, unapologetically himself. He ate remotes. He somehow managed to destroy televisions, couches, and even windows. No loaf of bread or bagel left on the counter was ever truly safe. If there was trouble to get into, Kolt usually found it first.

But those mischievous moments were only one part of who he was.

Kolt helped raise countless foster animals, offering them comfort, patience, and companionship when they needed it most. He loved his family with everything he had and protected his home without hesitation. Every week, the trash truck had to answer to him first. He took his job seriously, and we always knew we were safe with him around.

He wasn’t just our dog. He was our protector, our constant companion, and one of the greatest loves of our lives.

We knew this day would come. Twelve years is a beautiful gift, but somehow it still isn’t enough. Knowing goodbye was coming didn’t make our hearts any more prepared.

Today, we find comfort in imagining Kolt reunited with his sisters, Kora and Athena. We can picture them together again, running free, with Kora and Athena undoubtedly finding ways to annoy him just like old times. We hope they’re taking care of one another until we’re all together again.

Thank you, Kolt, for every laugh, every mess, every bark at the trash truck, every foster life you helped shape, and every moment of unconditional love you gave us.

You were worth so much more than five dollars.

You were priceless.
