Nickoli was a gift, both literally and spiritually. When he came into his mom’s life, she wasn’t sure her heart could survive loving another Great Dane after losing one to cancer. The grief was still there, heavy and raw. But a good friend Nancy, knew this boy was exactly what she needed to heal, and gosh… did Nickoli heal places she didn’t even know were still broken.
Nickoli was always up for the closest cuddles. He never once, in all his nine years, realized he had grown far too big to be a lap dog and if the opportunity presented itself, he took it without hesitation. He was a steady heartbeat at his mom’s feet, a constant presence, a quiet reassurance that she was never alone.
He loved car rides, lived for field time with his jolly ball, and was the bestest friend to his pack mate, Hailey Grace. He loved everyone, but he was fiercely protective of his pack. He was the daily alarm clock, the internal home security system. There was no sound too small, no movement unnoticed, even as his body aged. Nothing got past him.
Nickoli was the biggest love. And he loved his mom so, so much. He will be missed more than words can ever explain by his family and his Goof Troop pack. Life will feel different without him here, but he will absolutely never be forgotten. His love, his presence, and his spirit are forever woven into the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him.
We love you, Nickoli. Go see Nancy and tell the others we’ll see them in heaven someday, okay? 🤍🐾🌈
